About us

Píobairí Strakonice is the first GAA club in Strakonice. Currently the team is focusing on hurling, this is one of the Irish National Sports(Gaelic Games), which is said to be over 3000 years old. The club made up almost entirely of Czech nationals.

The name Píobairí (meaning Pipers) was chosen as the symbol of Strakonice town is the Czech Bagpiper. Strakonice is filled with references to this symbol, perhaps most famously in the local brewery which produces "Dudak"(Piper) beer. The team logo is not where the tributes to the town end as the new playing kits are based on the colours of the town flag.

The club has seen relative success since it's foundation in 2020 both on and off the pitch. In 2022 the club became an affiliate of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) meaning the team can compete across Europe in Gaelic Games Europe (GGE) competitions.
